During church yesterday, we read Genesis chapter 1. The Bible starts at a dizzy pace, doesn’t it? It’s a gripping opening. And there are literally thousands of sermons waiting to be preached out of just this first chapter of Genesis. God’s word is full of power, creative energy, and life. When God created the universe, He used His word like a carpenter uses his hammer. God builds with His word. When God speaks, His word carries out His every bidding. His word is controlling this universe. Yesterday, as we looked together at Genesis 1 – the very foundation of the world – I was reminded that the same, unchanging God who did all this wants to move by His power in our lives (your life, my life) today, and create something for His glory.
