My Bullhorn

In the town where I grew up, there is this church that puts a pretty float in all the parades. All the beautiful children ride on it and wave to the onlookers. You’ve seen those floats in your hometown parades. Presh.

It is also the church with the preacher on the back screaming into a bullhorn.

Hell.
Fire.
Eternal burning.

The thing is, I love Jesus. I don’t mean just a little bit or only on Sundays. I LOVE HIM! Romans 1:16 says, For “I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile.”

My struggle is to find the balance between preachy and passion.  I wonder how people who do not know Jesus are going to learn more about Him if they ONLY hear hell and fire tirades? Are we simply scaring the hell out of them?  I’d rather share with them the mind-blowing truth about a God who loves us so much that he gave his son for us.

My hope for the words coming out my “bullhorn”?

Love.
Grace.
Eternal life.

We recently took a team to Guatemala to serve. We were able to build some bathrooms for a church in a small village as well as serve various needs within the village. Our trip also included trips to a children’s hospital, a nursing home, and various other areas to serve.  We hope they heard our love, felt His grace, and throughout these acts of service find eternal life in him.
